Overview
We installed eight deep screw piles using 323mm CHS, reaching depths of up to 32 metres. These piles were specifically designed to support temporary tower cranes, engineered to withstand significant axial and lateral loads during critical construction phases. The foundation system was carefully developed to provide both stability and safety, ensuring the cranes could operate reliably under demanding load conditions. This solution offered a fast and efficient alternative to traditional foundations, with minimal ground disturbance and rapid installation in a constrained construction environment.

Challenges
The project site featured a weak soil profile that necessitated deep foundation solutions capable of supporting large structural loads. To address this, we designed and installed high-capacity screw piles to transfer loads to deeper, more stable strata. Complicating the installation was the location within a live industrial plant, where ongoing operations and restricted access posed significant logistical and safety challenges. Our team implemented a carefully staged approach using low-clearance, specialised equipment and coordinated closely with plant operations to ensure minimal disruption. The result was a safe, efficient foundation system that met both geotechnical and operational requirements.

Solution
Our in-house design and fabrication capabilities allowed us to produce large-diameter screw piles tailored to site demands. Custom fabrication, hydraulic grabs, and off siding support ensured efficient installation with minimal movement in the tight workspace.
